Interior designer Beata Heuman's Earls Court flat is small but perfectly formed. A first-time buyer, she has transformed the space on a budget using a plethora of tricks picked up during an eight-year stint working for Nicholas Haslam's NH Design. We take a close look at the clever design of her bedroom (see the full story on Beata's flat here).
The bed has been dressed up with a luxurious mix of textures and patterns, including a blue and white throw from Lisa Corti in Florence.
A 'Geometric' mirror from Mufti takes the place of a traditional headboard. 'It's quite glamorous and a bit unexpected.'
Mirror is a vital tool in the armoury of anyone designing a small room. Use it to reflect light and create an illusion of space. Here mirrored Ikea 'Pax' wardrobes flanking the window emphasise the view on to leafy Brompton Cemetery. The blinds are in 'Serafina' (white) by Marvic.
The problem of a low bedroom ceiling has been tackled with Farrow & Ball's 'Lulworth Blue' paint, a gentle contrast to the white walls that works with the mirror. The colour is picked up in the art on the walls. A leopard print carpet from Starck was an inexpensive off-cut and blends with the wooden floorboards.
